FAQs

  • To initiate services and explore whether what I offer is a good fit, I ask that potential clients schedule a free 15-minute consultation. If what I offer is a good fit, we’ll schedule an initial therapy session.

  • No, not at this time. Therapy services are provided virtually via telehealth using a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

  • I do not currently accept insurance and am considered an “out-of-network” provider. I can provide you with a “super bill” which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Many insurance companies reimburse a percentage of the out-of-network fee for each visit. It’s important to call your insurance company before initiating therapy with me such that you can determine if your insurance provides coverage for out-of-network clinicians. For your convenience, I use a program called Reimbursify which helps clients determine (1) if they have out-of-network benefits, and (2) submit claims for reimbursement from their insurance company if they have out-of-network benefits. I’d be happy to assist you in navigating this process.

  • This is an excellent question and I’m glad you asked. As an out-of-network provider, I find that treatment is better able to be more flexible for the client and ensures a degree of privacy that you may not otherwise experience working with insurance companies. Being an out-of-network provider also allows me to focus on the area(s) of dysfunction in a person’s life whereas insurance companies often require a diagnosis in order to treat.

  • While I don’t accept insurance, many health insurance policies may provide partial reimbursement for out-of-network providers. Before engaging in therapy with me, I encourage all clients to reach out to their insurance providers (if electing to seek reimbursement) to determine if your policy reimburses for out-of-network therapy providers. When reaching out to your insurance provider, you may find it helpful to ask the following questions:

    • How much will my benefits cover for an out-of-network therapist?

    • Has my deductible been met this year?

    • What is my deductible (the amount you may pay out of pocket before your insurance benefits begin)?

    • How many sessions per calendar does my plan cover?

    • What are the steps I need to take in seeking reimbursement for an out-of-network therapist?

    • Is a referral from my primary care physician required?

  • If you decide to seek reimbursement for therapy via your insurance, your insurer may ask for service codes. As mentioned, I am happy to provide my clients with “super bills” which include service codes and diagnoses, if needed. If your insurer asks for service codes, please specify that the CPT codes that would be used are 90791 (Initial Intake Appointment), 90837 (60 Minute Therapy Appointment), 90834 (45 Minute Therapy Appointment) with GT Modifier / Service Code 02 for Telehealth / Video Services.
